It's the Tom Baker scarf. You have to be a special level of geek to a) know his name b) know that his scarf is even significant and c) be willing to associate yourself with Dr Who.

And if you don't know Harry Potter, the other scarfs just have some sort of school crest on them. But so many millions of people recognize those symbols and would squeal with glee, that they're not geeky.

If you explain to someone why you're wearing the insanely long Tom Baker scarf, I guarantee you they'll think "what a fucking geek/dork/loser"...

I'm torn. I like both of these choices. As Bill points out, HP is kind of dorky popular so it's more heavy on Dork rather than Geek. However, if it were me, I would probably buy that one. Too bad it has those weird tassels on it. Probably bc it was designed for kids.

Therefore, YOU should get the Dr. Who scarf. You have to have some specific trival knowledge to appreciate it, and that is certainly GEEKY. Plus it looks nice.

I've been working on ideas for knitted cellular automata.

My first boyfriend taught me a method for cross stitching a fractal. I actually had an idea for a whole book of projects like this.

You should look at making tiles or scarves out of Life, my favorite cellular automata type thing.
