Hosting Workshop THIS Sunday

Post by andrea »

Right after the AIC meeting on Sunday there will be a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED hosting workshop. We will go over the hosting responsibilities for the different shows, and then you will get to practice honing your hosting skills. Our own Dave Buckman will lead the workshop and provide feedback.

We all recognize that the host is an important part of our shows. Whether you are a veteran or a virgin, please plan to attend.

Just to get one more post up on Jay, I'll officially state, here and now, for the record, that I, too, am down.
Also, that I like using commas.

I can't make it to the Hosting workshop b/c of a soccer game and GGG rehearsal, but I wanted to mention a personal hosting pet peeve.

I feel very strongly that all announcements about classes/other shows/websites etc. should NOT come at the end of the show. They should be announced in the middle of the show hopefully (after the 1st or 2nd troupe in the 3 fer, after the 1st troupe in the style show, before the last round or two of Maestro, etc.)

I think we work very hard to leave audiences feeling energized and excited at the end of a show and we take all of that away when we stop the applause, get things quiet, and make them listen to a list of announcements. Announcements are very important, but most of all they should remember how great the show was and let them leave with that energy.
