Want to be on Trading Spaces?

Post by acrouch »

This is from Sara Finne of TLC's Trading Spaces:
You can contact her at sfinne@banyan.com

Hi!

TLC's Trading Spaces is coming to Austin and we are on the search for enthusiastic homeowners to be on our show! We find that theater companies are often a great place to find them. Wondering if any of your company members, staff or crew might be interested? Do you have an internal listserv and/or newsletter that you could possibly send something out on that about out search for applicants? If nothing else, can you hang a flyer over your water cooler!

Anyone interested can email me and I will forward an application to them. The due date for applications is Feb 6th.

Please let me know if this is a possibility!

Thank you,

Sara Finne

TLC’s TRADING SPACES IS FILMING UPCOMING EPISODES IN THE AUSTIN AREA, AND WANTS YOU TO APPLY FOR A SPOT ON THE SHOW!

TRADING SPACES, produced by Banyan Productions, provides two pairs of friends with a $1000 budget, a professional designer, a carpenter, and 48 hours to redo a room of their choice. But there’s a catch - they have to switch houses, and they have no say in how their own room will look! We’re seeking brave and vibrant homeowners to represent the Austin area on these upcoming episodes!
The rules are simple:
1. Two people per team
2. Rooms must be at least 12’ x 12’
3. Houses must be within a fifteen minute drive of each other

To apply, e-mail sfinne@banyan.com. A full application will immediately be sent to you.

All Applications must be submitted no later than February 6th, the sooner you apply the better your chances! We will be shooting March.

Let me pretend to live with you.
You'd need help anyway in making over the other house. ;)

Do the people that trade spaces usually know each other? If so, we should figure out who would be good to switch with.

And imagine if we offered to get the entire Austin Improv community involved in the space trading. Like 40 people working on the two houses. How the shit would that be?

sometimes they do specialty shows like a fraternity and a sorority switched. if we could find another theater to trade with that would be cool too!

Who said you need two houses? A house and the Hideout?

I like the idea of two houses, and two groups of improvisers working on those spaces OR two theatre groups each with a house or a space. I wonder how they'd feel about that? I know they like the places to be within a certain distance...and a speciality show usually means better marketing and more viewers...

Here's the actual press release

ANNOUNCEMENT
HIDE YOUR CEILING FANS!
TRADING SPACES SEEKS HOMEOWNERS IN AUSTIN!

WHAT: TLC’s hit series TRADING SPACES, where two sets of neighbors swap homes for two days to redesign one room in each other’s house, is looking for Austin area residents to participate in episode tapings.

WHEN: TRADING SPACES will film two episodes in the Austin area in mid-March.

WHO: Teams must be comprised of two people, the rooms to be transformed must be at least 12’ X 12’. The two homes must be within a 10 minute drive from one another.

HOW: Interested applicants should send an email to sfinne@banyan.com and you will be sent an application.

Deadline: end of day February 6th

BACKGROUND: TRADING SPACES, produced by Banyan Productions, provides two neighbors with the budget, a professional designer, a carpenter, and 48 hours to redo a room of their choice. But there’s a catch - they have to switch houses, and they have no say in how their own room will look. Before work begins, neighbors write down how they’d like to redo their friends’ rooms; the designers receive these comments along with pictures and room measurements. Then, as soon as they switch house keys, the teams roll up their sleeves and get to work. After two days of grueling work, the rooms are totally transformed. Each team returns to their own home to see what’s become of their room. How will they react to their new room?

WE CAN NOT NOT DO THIS. We should totally have every troupe do this, and flood her with emails. Personally, I'm really stoked because I made a drunk bet that I would slap Sara Finne's ass before I die to a friend of mine, and now it may look like it might actually happen!

people, people,

we don't need TLC. if they turn us down, we film and do it ourselves. this is the age of self-producing. you can burn any p.o.s. idea onto a dvd and sell it. or not sell it. just have to show to whoever.

of course, the exposure of TLC would be pretty sweet. but if you're so in love with it and TLC doesn't come through, just do it on your own.

Who among us owns their house? Bob owns our house. Do you have to be a homeowner?
