The Applied Improvisation Network
San Francisco, November 15-18, 2006
www.appliedimprov.net
The Applied Improv Network announces its 5th annual conference — a chance for business professionals to explore how collaborative and emergent thinking, design, and process can boost organizational performance.
Corporate and community leaders are increasingly recognizing the value of strong teams and adaptive thinking. Virtual teams, geographic & cultural diversity, and faster timelines to market: these workplace realities encourage us to seek new skills for working together effectively, creatively, and sustainably.
Improv training in business has the same value as improv training in the arts — to help people connect authentically, improve communication skills & emotional intelligence, build trust, and perform better “on your feetâ€

aye aye,
very fun and useful. consider going if you've got the funds and you're interested in getting into corporate training and facilitating. i'm lightly trying to convince them to have it here next year so people can see our scene. can't afford to go to san fran this year. hopefully someone can go out to represent. i believe they do work trade/scholarship for people who are interested in going for less dough. plane is the big issue.
anyway, check that web site out. an upside is if you go to the conference, you're an AIN member which looks good on a rezzie. you don't have to pay no other fee.

this was awesome by the way - thank you for the recommendation andy, shana and jlamb.
at the conference, i learned new directing and coaching techniques, story arc and storytelling fundamentals, playback theatre and how to design training and facilitation for corporate clients. on top of all that - i met a lot of awesome bay area theatresports peoples.
for all the people that attended the summer intensive, william provided a booklet of notes replete with sketches from sara. they were snapped up in minutes. net, you are all famous.
i'm looking forward to putting a lot of these new understandings to work in the community...

actually, i went for cheaps and managed to only pay for my hotel. taking jeremy's suggestion, i asked about work/study exchanges and got my entire registration fee paid.sara farr wrote:I was wanting to go but didn't have the time/money, so I was hoping to hear from you about it when you got back.
also, worked the AA miles into a free airfare. although i didnt take advantage of this, there are also people open to sharing rooms which would have made it even cheaper.
just an FYI for people who think this might be out of reach for next year...
