Big News To All:
ColdTowne's friend and neighbor, Angie Steding (http://angiesteding.com/) has an exhibit opening at The Space, located on Airport Road next to I Love Video. The exhibit is open all day and during the night, ColdTowne takes over. We will be presenting:
see. hear. speak.
Monday, January 16: see.
Movie Night. ColdTowne will be presenting several short films (everything from Gorilla Filmmaking to Mini-Mockumentaries to Straight Sketch Comedy and Music Videos) to a feast of free Red Beans and Rice.
In between shows there will be press conferences with local photographer Angie Steding and Delicous Beverage Experts Tami Nelson, Arthur Simone, Michael Jastroch, and Chris Trew.
Tuesday, January 17 hear.
Variety Show Night. Performance artists (dancers, musicians, public speakers, poets, professors, whatever, whoever) do their pieces.
If you or someone you know might be interested in this, sign up now! Slots are 5-15 minutes. You guys are more than welcome to this. Keep in mind though, this night is less comedy, more variety.
Wednesday, January 18 speak.
A Safe Place for Stand Up + Improv Marathon.
Stand Up: This is the place for those of you who have always wanted to do stand up but for whatever reason, never did it. It will be an unintimidating atmosphere (no Stand-Up regulars will be performing*) where you can guys can practice. 4-6 minutes each, sign ups begin immediately. This event will be advertised, but the night will be filled with amateur comics. So, please, sign up if this sounds interesting. No fear! You have almost a month to prepare a small set. You can do it. I promise.
***I will be performing a longer set for the purposes of filming for a short movie. I wouldn't call myself a "regular", I just wanted to let you guys know.
Improv Marathon: Beginning shortly after the Stand Up Showcase we will attempt an Improv Marathon! This is rather simple. There are no rules. I will put it in bold so the point gets across. All caps, too. NO RULES. We will begin around 9:45-10ish and just start improvising. You guys are all invited to join us. Show up at midnight if you want. Show up at 11 with your roommates who want to play around on stage. Seriously, there are no rules. We are just going to keep on going. Come with an agenda. Freeze us. Do a monologue. Whatever. This will stop when we are tired, someone dies, we get bored, or when Tamale House opens the next morning at 6.
Each Night Starts @ 9 pm. Each Night Costs $5. All Three Nights: $10.
There will *probably* be complimentary beer and wine at each show. Confirmation to follow shortly.
Please, come be a part of this, tell some friends, look at Angie's photography, try your hand at stand up, watch some movies that we are making, come be a part of a gigantic Improv Marathon. (Has there been a record set for the longest Austin Improv Set? If not, maybe that can be our goal?)

Fancy Beverages
It's now clear to me that you don't respect my opinions on Fancy Beverages. How are we to maintain a working relationship if I'm excluded from these discussions. I'll have you know I have a two month old bottle of imported celery juice in my fridge. For shame.

...just wanted to say 'huzzah' for putting something like this on, and 'shit' for not being able to make any of the nights (work travel and tech rehearsals). I hope this is the first of many events like this... yay Coldtowne!

well, that bit of stand-up was a lot of fun. i've been wanting to get into it a little and now i think i have to go to some open mics or something. i laughed really hard several times throughout the evening.
for those of you who were as frustrated as me about the BLT thing, here's what it was supposed to be: http://www.beardedlamb.com/2005/04/coin ... omedy.html
and to everyone else who memorized their shit or understood their notes, "grand style."
good show, chums.
beard (coming in nicely)
