I Want to be Your Guy

Post by beardedlamb »

Hi,
This is my official hat tossing into the ring. Since I moved here I've been buried up to my neck in my own projects, but I want to branch out and do more coaching, directing, and teaching.

If you are alive, I want to coach, direct, or teach your group or your individual person things about improv. My resume is extensive and my ego is even bigger, so in the interest of time, here are some brief totally true facts about my improv and theatre career.

- I directed and performed with local legend well hung jury for the 6+ years of its existence.

- I have developed, directed, and performed countless (actually probably countable) new formats for improv.

- My recent big project, Available Cupholders, which i direct and perform with, has toured the nation's colleges and small theatres sporadically for two years, wowing audiences and inspiring hundreds, if not tens of hundreds.

- I have taught students while on tour across the US, ranging in skill level from beginner to advanced and ages from 8 to 72.

- I have developed curricula for and taught several classes including, Shakespearean prov, Longform Narrative, Scene Strengthening, Shortform Games, Beginner, Solo, Ensemble, Character, and Avant Garde.

- I have directed around 15 or so ensembles across the states in how to strengthen their ensemble.

- I have trained on how to direct or perform improv at BATS (Bay Area Theatresports,) Second City in Chicago, SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando, the University of Texas @ Austin, from Improv Olympic teachers, and here in Austin from visiting instructors.

- I have developed and performed in an improvised one man show, as well as booked some small tours for the same tour in '03 and '04.

- I have been to many festivals and booking conferences as well as run a festival several times over here in Austin.

- I have won awards at festivals and tournaments, for improv or theatre performances.

- I have directed many of the people you know and maybe see every day right here in Austin. Ed 32, Parallellogramophonograph, You Me & Greg, You're Fat, PITS, Gravy (co-dir,) Catch 24 (asst. dir. sketch group,) Kazillionaire*, well hung jury, Available Cupholders, and many rogue individual students.

But enough about me. WHAT DO YOU NEED? I am versatile and can teach nearly any style or anything you can come up with. I want to direct your sketch show. I want to make your group better. I want to be your personal coach and come to your shows and take notes just for you. I want to have private coaching sessions with you where we share a brandy on the veranda and bandy about funny band names. I want to be your mentor. I want to make you a better improvisor. and my ego says I can do that. If I can keep Maverick Ace Manning in line for ten years... well, you know.

WHY,? you may ask.

Well, two reasons:
1) money. i want to make improv and theatre my sole source of income. i am affordable and a great value considering my ego's amazing girth.
2) improv health. the strength of an improv scene is only as good as its practitioners. individually if everyone were to improve the prov, the whole scene looks better and improv gets more exposure, audiences grow, documentaries are made (good ones,) improv touches more people's lives, and we all die happy with prouder parents.

So, that's it in a nutshell. The amount of money needed for services rendered will depend on many factors. we will discuss. i don't care about your status in the community. we can all learn from each other, regardless of where we've been or where we are.

PLEASE, help my ego help you.

Thank you,
jeremy lamb

Jeremy was basically my first improv coach/teacher (see his reference to teaching the PITS), and he seriously kicked ass. He created a comfortable atmosphere where my group was able to learn and thrive. Plus he was really versatile and was able to come to us and create a workable price, etc.
I trust Jeremy a lot as a fellow improviser, and I think he's a great teacher for all sorts of improvisers from beginner and beyond.
I highly recommend him, especially for longform narrative, ensemble work, solo improv, and character.

I blushingly admit to enjoying Jeremy's current facial hair configuration. He looks quite a bit like John Wilkes Booth.

He is also fair and flexible, like a quality cellular plan.
