I don't know if you can download 60 Minutes, but I recommend trying to see the bit from this past Sunday on Arizona Congressman Jeff Flake.

This piece demonstrated the number one reason why I think politicians are scum bags: pork barrell ear mark spending. Flake is the exception that proves the rule. He is a champion against this shameful crap.

The segment compares him to the lead character in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and shows him on the House floor debating against these ear marks. He is something like 0-35, but he keeps trying. The fact that he keeps losing and just the few examples of fights that he's lost from 60 Minutes is why I -- and so many like me -- think politicians (and let's throw all of their staffs and lobbyists and special interest groups that use the lobbyists) are slime.

But, I'd take any politician over Joe Theismann any day.
