FACT OF THE DAY: Thanksgiving was celebrated on the last Thursday in November from 1870 until 1942, when it was designated as the fourth Thursday. Texas continued to observe the last Thursday, causing two Thanksgivings some years; the earlier one was called “Roosevelt Thanksgiving.” Texas finally changed its holiday in 1956.
