FACT OF THE DAY: Upon its release, Monty Python’s Life of Brian was widely accused of blasphemy; many British town councils banned it from cinemas, even those that didn’t have cinemas. In the Welsh town of Aberystwyth, the ban persisted until 2008, when it was repealed by the town’s new mayor—Sue Jones-Davies, who played Brian’s girlfriend in the film.
