FACT OF THE DAY: The Argentine ant is an invasive species that has become endemic around the world. When a new ant colony splits off, it often begins competing with its former colony for territory. In San Diego, a war between two colonies has been raging for years across much of the city, killing an estimated 30 million ants per year.
