FACT OF THE DAY: Trader Joe’s “Two Buck Chuck”—Charles Shaw wine sold for bargain-basement prices—is sourced from a wide variety of grapes all over California, and as a result has widely varying quality from one case to the next. In 2004, a bottle of Charles Shaw Shiraz (retail $1.99) won the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition, beating 2,000 other wines for the title.
