FACT OF THE DAY: Ukranian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka had a deal with his sponsor Nike that offered a bonus any time he set a new world record. From 1991 to 1994, Bubka worked this system by setting the world record nine times, with each record only 0.01 meters higher than the one before. According to the New York Daily News, Bubka’s system netted at least $600,000 in bonuses.
