FACT OF THE DAY: The rare mushroom Chorioactis geaster, known locally as the devil’s cigar, is only found in two places on Earth: Texas and southern Japan. DNA evidence suggests that the two populations have been separated for at least 19 million years. It’s unknown how the species moved from one location to the other.
