FACT OF THE DAY: Since 1986 The Economist has maintained the Big Mac Index, a metric that uses the price of a Big Mac in 21 different countries to rate the purchasing power of their respective currencies. (As of this writing the US dollar is 4th-highest in the Big Mac Index, meaning a Big Mac is a better deal in 17 other countries.) In 2011, Argentina artificially lowered the price of the Big Mac to disguise its high inflation rate; this went unpunished, since it violated no laws.
