FACT OF THE DAY: When Tony Scott sought the US Navy’s participation for his 1995 submarine movie “Crimson Tide,” he was refused—the Navy didn’t endorse a script about a mutiny on board one of its boats. In order to obtain needed footage, Scott sent a helicopter and boat to chase a Navy submarine as it left Pearl Harbor and film it until it submerged.
