FACT OF THE DAY: In the 1960s, author Ursula K. Le Guin submitted a short story to Playboy under the name U. K. Le Guin, to disguise her gender. Playboy agreed to publish the story, but asked for an author bio. Le Guin sent them the following, which Playboy printed: “It is commonly suspected that the writings of U. K. Le Guin are not actually written by U. K. Le Guin, but by another person of the same name.”
