FACT OF THE DAY: Joseph Medicine Crow (1913-2016) was a noted historian for the Crow Nation who was also one of the last Native American warriors to complete the tribal requirements for “counting coup” during his service in Europe in World War II. Some of Medicine Crow’s traditional exploits against German soldiers included touching an enemy without killing him, stealing an enemy’s weapon, and stealing an enemy’s horse.
