FACT OF THE DAY: El Paso and Hudspeth counties are the only part of Texas in the Mountain time zone. The entire state was officially placed on Central time in 1921, but El Paso ignored the law for over 40 years. Finally in 1970, the Secretary of Transportation amended the Uniform Time Act to place the area on Mountain time.
