FACT OF THE DAY: Oklahoma grocer Sylvan Goldman invented the modern concept of the grocery store in 1937. He also invented the shopping cart around the same time, but customers were hesitant to use them; Goldman increased acceptance by hiring models to push them around his stores and pretend to shop.
