FACT OF THE DAY: NASA received 18,300 applications for its recent astronaut job posting. Of these about 500 will be selected for additional review, about 120 will receive interviews, 50-60 will receive second interviews and extensive physical evaluations, and 8-14 will go on to become astronauts, some of whom will never go into space.
