FACT OF THE DAY: The irregular border between India and Bangladesh features multiple “enclaves," where the territory of one country lies entirely inside the other. Bangladesh includes 102 enclaves of Indian territory, which in turn contain 21 Bangladeshi “counter-enclaves.” One of these contains Dahala Khagrabari, a 1.7-acre Indian counter-counter-enclave. In May 2015, India ceded this and many other enclaves back to Bangladesh in an effort to simplify the border.
