It’s The International Improv Experience, a brand new show!
We’re extremely excited about this concept because there’s nothing else like it in the world… a show that spans continents to bring the awesomeness of the international improv community to Austin audiences.
Roy Janik will be directing.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, April 27th, from 4-7pm.
Here is the idea. Over the years Hideout performers have been making improv friends all over the world. We have come to know and love improvisers from Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, London, South Korea, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and more.
It’s time to capitalize on that.
We envision the show as an escalating series of scene setups or games issued via recorded video or audio from our friends around the world. There will be most likely be an overarching quest/goal element, as the cast attempts to accomplish the tasks put forth to them. Where technology and resources permit, we may also attempt some live interactions with our overseas friends as well.
Obviously, there’s still a lot to figure out as an ensemble during rehearsals, and that’s part of the fun.
For the cast, we’ll be looking for people who are versatile, who are good listeners, and who up for the challenge of creating a brand new show with a decent number of moving parts from scratch.
Special Note:
Rehearsals will be more compressed than usual, taking place twice a week, but in a smaller span of time. They are:
Sundays from 4-7pm and Wednesdays 7-10pm in the last week of May and all of June.
Possible additional rehearsals will take place during the run, Wednesdays 7-10pm in July.
The show itself will take place Saturdays at 8pm in July and August.
