New Improv Classes Are Starting Up At The Institution Theater! Remember, if you have prior improv experience, you can talk to us about skipping preliminary levels.

Improv 101: Self-Expression & Empowerment (8 weeks) ONLY $120
Taught by TOM BOOKER on Sundays starting October 20th, 1pm–3:30pm OR
Taught by TED MEREDITH on Wednesdays starting October 23rd, 7pm–9:30pm

You are capable of more creativity than you realize. Let loose and get around the fears that might get in your way through acting exercises and improv games played in a safe and fun environment. Learn to: Create characters spontaneously with strong points of view, Make bold initiations, Have fun in the moment. Whether your goal is to use improv as a tool for acting or a way to enhance your life, you will walk away with a sense of freedom and empowerment.

Improv 201: Scene Dynamics and Forms (8 weeks) $175/$160 before Oct. 16
Taught by SARAH MARIE CURRY on Sundays starting October 20th, 1pm–3:30pm OR
Taught by JUSTIN DAVIS on Tuesdays starting October 22nd, 7pm–9:30pm

All improv scenes are about the dynamics between its characters. You’ll learn how the simplest moves can develop into fun and complex relationships that develop into stories that develop into a fully fleshed out world. This class will explore: Emotional range, Stage picture, Playing in genres, Advanced character development.

Improv 301: Group Think and Play (8 weeks) $175/$160 before Oct. 16
Taught by ASAF RONEN on Wednesdays starting October 23rd, 7pm–9:30pm OR
Taught by ASAF RONEN on Saturdays starting October 26th, 12pm–2:30pm
Step into advanced scene work and the beginnings of longform structure. The class will break every convention and create some new ones along the way. You will learn tactics that will make you simultaneously more aggressive and more playful while milking as much fun as you canin each and every moment. Focus will be on: Rapid fire scene initiations, Making group scenes easy, Editing and longform structure.

I'm hoping to get a few more bodies in my 301 classes so if you have improv experience and are curious about whether you can skip into 301, let me know!
