What are "Theater Games?"

Post by Spots »

Check out this wonderful video.

Neva Boyd was a social worker in Chicago. She used games to get immigrant children to open up and challenge themselves. Her student Viola Spolin ported over the idea into a performance space. She invented "theater games" which is similar to what you and I know of as "warmups."

This later became the core concept behind Second City Chicago.

Watch this amazing video and let's discuss its place in our lives:

Notice how unhinged and "out of their heads" the Spolin's students are? Is anyone else mesmerized by this?
