Oh man, I love this.

It also reminded me of why I won't audition for commercials anymore since they almost always create an environment in which it's impossible to actually "act". 75% it's asking you to be completely without character.

I bet this is why that people gainfully employed in some other industry always get rolls I am up for, because I am usually desperate to land the role for monetary reasons, and often they are in it for the "fun" Blargh.

Start asking for acting ROLES dan. They'll just give you bread when you ask the other way.


But yeah this is definitely a process. Viola Spolin called it "the approval-disapproval syndrome" and in my opinion it comes from being an animal needing to fit into a pack. We want to find our pack but this doesn't translate when trying to audition for a movie. The result of pack-seeking is a loss of confidence.
