Did anyone else see this debate? This was truly bizarre -- and I mean the format more than even the debaters. They were quizzed like high schoolers on knowledge of very specific facts at one point. The people asking the questions seemed to be seperated by whom they hated the most... then they were given the opportunity to grill that candidate... often mercilessly and sans class.

Overall it was pretty rinky dink as debates go... but still not nearly as funny as a New Orleans mayorial debate:

(When Mayor Nagin was asked by fellow candidate Peggy Wilson in a debate early this year if he wanted to let the pimps, the murderers, the drug dealers and the rapists back into the city, he responded, "I want to make it safe for EVERYONE to come back."

Yet another great clip from the recent debate. It shows, once again, even when not twisting the answer into an attack on Perr, that Strayhorn is incapable of simply giving a straight answer to a question (in this case due to clear lack of knowledge).

Tejas...you're screwed.
