I think a big issue is it's not advertised explicitly in classes. Maybe we should make a sign in the Greenroom with the url and description and stuff? So that students and performers can see it/be reminded of it?

well, the internet filters at my work started blocking the forum several months back...and since I probably accounted for about half the posts on the forum everyday for the last few years, I apologize. :p it's harder to sign in and check it at the end of the day, and after a few days have passed and posts have mounted up and discussions carried on, it feels a bit overwhelming.

so to solve the problem, clearly the AIC needs to come together and get my internet restrictions loosened up at work.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I stumbled upon AIF, but it wasn't until I'd been in classes for several months, and even now (just finished 401 at Merlin Works), I'd say the majority of my classmates barely know about it, and look puzzled anytime I mention it. So some sort of concerted effort to advertise it at all the schools would probably drive some traffic its way.

The community getting larger might actually be contributing to the decline, in that it now includes a lot of people who don't know each other. Just to use the example at hand, if I ask what people are seeing at OoB, I'm interested in getting that answer from my friends, not from random improvisers I've never met. In that case, Facebook's limiting of posts to people I know serves a useful function.

I find view new posts to be the most helpful for keeping up-to-date. View unread posts can be a bit intimidating since it really keeps track of everything you've seen and haven't seen. I don't bother with the "Tonight in Austin Improv" posts (since I'm not going to be there), so view unread posts keeps including those in a list of all the posts I haven't read.

There is an option from the main page, at the top right corner, to "Mark forums read." This clears the board for people like me who obsessively must have nothing "unread" in any of their online stuff, and effectively does the same thing as "view new posts"

It seems to have fixed itself, but I swear to bejeezus it disappeared for a while... (unread posts, etc...)
