My contribution to 2013

As a frustrated writer wannabe, I find it easier to think of the titles of stories or novels than to write the stories or novels themselves. (As an even more frustrated musician, I do the same thing with album titles.)

In conversation or when reading some Internet stuff a phrase will jump out to me. "That would make a cool album title. Or short story. Or poem. Or whatever," I'll think.

And now improv is a part of my life (way more than writing is, for sure). So lately I've been grabbing these random phrases and thinking of them as improv troupe names.

In a text message exchange, Luke Wallens (that big-thumbed goof) sent me the word "probably" but left out the "p." So Luke texted me simply the word "Obably."

I replied "Troupe name dibs!"

And this is my contribution to 2013:

Troupe Name Dibs

In which, during any conversation this year, you can shout out "Troupe name dibs!" and you not only (a) have dibs on that troupe name for eternity, but (b) get to shout out something funny into a friend's face.

The more bizarre the troupe name, or the more obnoxiously you yelp the catchphrase, the cooler you are.

Wildfire, folks. This little social meme is gonna spread like wildfire. De nada.
