Hello Everyone,
We'll be holding auditions for ColdTowne's August & September 2013 mainstage run on Sunday, June 23rd from 1-3pm.
About the Show
Indy Movies: The Filmmaking Misadventures of Wade Wood is a show within a show that is part 1940's adventure movie and part behind the scenes documentary.
Each week's show will tell the tale of titular director Wade Wood struggling to see his cinematic vision through to the big screen. Being cast in one of Wood's movies is both a blessing and a curse. His films are always a challenge to complete because of the director's insatiable desire for cutting edge special effects, his willingness to risk his cast's lives while filming dangerous stunts and explosions, and his tendency to push the actors up to and sometimes beyond their limits to produce grand stories of treasure maps and artifacts, danger and romance.
Actors in the show will play both "real life" characters as well a character (or characters) in the adventure movie.
This will be a somewhat physically demanding show involving stage combat, and likely some lifting of improvisers (safely) into the air. There are also plans for some blood and gore special effects. Please consider this when auditioning. Not everyone will be made to lift or be lifted, but I am ideally looking for performers who are ok with participating in these things. If you have concerns about this, please feel free to email me.
Auditions
Auditions will primarily consist of performing short scenes and then improvising a portion of an adventure movie.
The Jonesian male lead for the show has already been cast, and I am now looking to cast several other performers.
The only other known character will be someone to play director Wade Wood. This performer will only play this one character for the duration of the show. If you would like to audition for this role in particular I ask that you please prepare ahead of time (or be prepared to improvise) a short movie pitch. The movie pitch doesn't have to be set in the 40's, and doesn't have to be much longer than a minute.
All other roles in the movie will rotate and will include characters such as: the sidekick, the love interest, family members of the protagonist, main villains, and more!
I will also need plenty of extras/stunt-people to play locals/nazis/etc. Extras will also likely help do a lot of lifting and carrying performers.
Auditions will be held at ColdTowne on Sunday, June 23rd from 1-3pm. There are instructions at the bottom of this announcement detailing what to do if you can't make it to this audition time.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be held once weekly on Sundays. They will begin on Sunday July 7th and go through mid August.
The final schedule of rehearsals will be based on cast availability. Rehearsals will be a 2-3 hour block between 12 and 4pm.
Shows
Performances will be every Saturday at 8:30pm, August 3rd - September 28th at ColdTowne Theater (no show August 31st for Out Of Bounds!).
Call time for all shows will be 8pm.
Commitment
I am looking for improvisers who can commit to being at all of the rehearsals and performances for this show. If you have to miss one date it isn't a deal breaker entirely...I will though be taking availability heavily into account.
