JTS Brown and Harold -- Classic Comedy Formats

Post by tacotrombone »

Thursdays in May at 8:30.
ColdTowne Theater.

JTS Brown performed by ARKAY:
15 improvisers from the various training centers in Austin have come together to rehearse three hours a night with Dave Buckman and Cody Dearing.
We flew out Craig Cackowski (Dasariski, Community, Second City) to workshop the "format" he created with us.
Conference calls were conducted at the end of rehearsals with members of the original cast--last night, we interviewed Ike Barinholtz (Eastbound and Down, MadTV) while he waited between filming takes for The Mindy Project.

WIth the legendary JTS Brown approach, the format is to not have a format--to discover the format in real time, to build the plane in midair.
It has been an amazing experience.
Improv for improvisers.

This is tonight! I've never really played Coldtowne before and I'm so honored that I get to debut with this fine piece of work.

I'm honored that I get to debut in Sarah's debut, as well as with a bunch of other illustrious improvisers I've never played with before, plus a few familiar similarly acclaimed players.
And also Frank.

FRAAAAANK!

If I had a show and that show had a man dressed up in a giant teddy bear costume, that man would be Frank.

I'm excited for this show. I've also heard that several of the players are Roman Emperors. I wonder what that's all about.

I can't wait for Arkay tonight! This show threatens to break fun in my personal opinion. As in it overwhelms me with fun. Fun.
