Visiting from Bmore

Post by BmoreImprov »

Howdy folks –

Greetings from frigid Baltimore, where it’s not nearly as cold as Chicago but still pretty @#% cold!

My name is Jon Ulrich and I’m with the Baltimore Improv Group (Awkward side photo: http://www.bigimprov.org/about/bios)

I’m most pleased to announce that after years of wanting to visit Austin, it’s finally happening. I’ll be in town Thurs, Feb 21 at 5pm through Sun Feb 24 for a ‘prov festival.
Housing is a bit of a toss-up. It’s likely I’ll hang/stay with friends Feb 22 through Feb 24, but at the moment my evening of Thurs, Feb 21 is very open.

Is anyone looking to hang out Thurs evening? I will regale you with tales from scary, scary Baltimore. If you have a couch I can bunk on that night it’d be awesome, though it isn’t necessary. I really just want to get some good BBQ with a friendly face or two.

I will come bearing Berger cookies, which are a Baltimore tradition and will give you Type 2 diabetes. Learn more here: http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2012 ... ty-hostess

Let me know if you're interested!

Take care,
Jon

Yay! I'm assuming Improv Wins is the conference you're here for? If so then you'll meet plenty of funny awesome imps from New Movement over the weekend.

On Thursday, I'd suggest swinging by the Hideout for the 10:00 Free Fringe show (where people try out new, insane formats). Hell, you could probably land onstage, if you're so inclined. For dinner, I'd probably recommend Stubb's; it's not the BEST barbecue, but it is very GOOD barbecue and it's right downtown. You can easily finagle a few improvisers to join you.

Welcome Jon! I'm sure we can arrange some fun BBQ eating! Also, you should totally come to the Free Fringe on Thursday - it is after all Free!

Curious, if you all could recommend only three things to see/eat/do/etc while in Austin, what would they be?

Cheerio,
Jon

Walk down South Congress (of if your more outdoorsy go for a run around the lake.)
Eat at Stubbs (or almost anywhere - the food here is really good.)
See as much improv as you can - we have 5 different theaters here, all a little different, it is wonderful to see the variety that is Austin improv.
