Thursday with Mark Gindick
Pursue the spirit of clown, tear down the fourth wall, shake life into your body and figure out the comic edges of your physical attack. In this workshop you will learn how to build characters in a physical way and then apply them to building scenes. This is a perfect workshop if you're a performer who wants to work on his/her physical vocabulary, a writer or director who wants to learn about writing physical comedy, or any kind of performer who wants to add a new tool to their toolbox.
Mark Gindick is a professional actor, clown, physical comedian, director, teacher and writer/creator of his own theatrical shows. Wing-Man, his original theatrical piece without one spoken word, won BEST ONE-MAN SHOW in United Solo Theatre Festival, the largest solo festival of it's kind in the world. Mark has appeared in major feature films, including the Nora Ephron comedy Julie & Julia with Meryl Streep; on televison, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and was featured in The PBS mini series CIRCUS; starred Off-Broadway and at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival in the New York Times acclaimed hit The Comedy Trio Happy Hour, Happyhourclowns.com; clowned on circuses such as Ringling Brothers and the Big Apple Circus as well as teaching clowning at SUNY Purchase college and other New York City venues. Mark wrote and starred in How To Be A Man at the Palace of Variety on 42nd Street (NYC) and Mark’s unique blend of vaudeville, dance, and physical comedy earned him three Golden Nose Awards.

Friday with Caitlin Reilly
Dig in and explore how you are funny. Individually. Beyond gender stereotypes like the bimbo, the inept husband, the nagging wife, or the man who canʼt grow up. In this workshop, we will use clown to challenge assumptions about comedy. We will condition our bodies, examine and discuss what we think is clown and why, and find the spirit of clown within ourselves. If you are already interested in clowning or a professional performer looking to sharpen your skills, then this is the workshop for you.
Caitlin Reilly received clown training at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theater. She is currently touring a two-woman comedy show throughout the United States. She, with her husband, has clowned (as SCHAVE AND REILLY) for the circus, performed original material for variety shows and cabarets, and worked interactively from theme parks to cruise ships.
