Yup, I got it too.

{EDIT}

Wait, actually what I got was a PM notification when there was no new PM. That's new.

I put some things from the PM into the spam filter. I think that might have solved some problems.

Just happened again. Entirely in Russian.
The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

Now, and in general, if you'd like a spammer to be banned, send a PM/email/FB-chat to Brad Temple (bradisntclever) or Bolden (Jon Bolden).

I have just banned a lot of IP addresses and emails, hopefully that'll slow some stuff down.

Other admins –

Is there a way to block people that certain words in their signature or website? I'm noticing a pattern of certain brand names that keep reappearing.

The other thing we can do is only allow people to join if approved by an admin. Between the 4-5 admins we have, if we promise to stay on top of it, it might solve this problem outright.

Not an admin but...

I should think so. Try checking under something like "discussion options". That's where it is on WP. I know this isn't quite similar, but poke around.

Side note: on my blog I finally blocked the entire countries of Russia and Argentina b/c I got so much spam from them.

Try tossing them into the spam filter. It should prevent usage in signatures. Some of the things currently in the spam filter are actual websites.

My only concern here is for the occasional casting post from someone outside of the community. They may not wait around for the 5-6 hours it takes to get an account activated if we're all occupied.
