While we are waiting for the Alamo to announce Christmas day movies... does anyone have a preference for which movie we see.
make your case.
time and place will be announced next week
If you disrespect your character, or play it just for laughs, it will sell some gags, but it's all technique.
It's like watching a juggler-- you'll be impressed by it, but it's not going to touch you in anyway. "
-Steve Coogan
Also, this provides the answer to my question "What the hell did I even do for Christmas last year?" It was THIS! The best Christmas of the year is Jewish Christmas!
Dammit!!
You work your life away and what do they give?
You're only killing yourself to live
Django Unchained is currently rated 100% on 31 positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Not one bad review yet, including of any of the top critics. Even the likely two main Oscar contenders like Zero dark Thirty and Lincoln can't match that (though ZD30 comes closest at 98%). The other movies in the poll, Les Miz, Jack Reacher, and This Is 40, have gotten more mixed reviews. Les Miz especially ("..made me long for guillotines.." said EW's Lisa Swartzbaum). Jack Reacher looks like fun but we did Tom Cruise last year in MI Ghost Protocol. This Is 40 ought to be really funny but I feel like I've seen Judd Apatow & Leslie Mann's marriage done already in Funny People as well as Knocked Up. So my vote went to Tarantino. The guy has a track record like nobody else. Only Death Proof was a dud, and even that was an interesting dud. His casting once again seems inspired.
This is such a great event. If it isn't culturally insensitive, it would be awesome in the future to add to this festivity, and do a Christian Hanukkah with 8 nights of stuff. It would be exhausting, but fun.
