5th Annual Women in Comedy Festival
March 21 - 24 2013
Boston and Cambridge Massachusetts
Submissions Are Open!
The Women in Comedy Festival (WICF) is now accepting submissions through December 7th 2012. Submissions may be in the categories Stand Up or Storytelling Stand Up (one sustained story), Improv Comedy, Live Sketch Comedy (may contain some video or multimedia in show), Musical Comedy (scripted or unscripted), and Workshop Instruction.
This year’s headliner is Maria Bamford. The festival takes place March 21 - March 24 in Boston and Cambridge (both in Massachusetts).
WICF is open to all comedians of all genders. International comedians are welcome to apply, but WICF is not able to pay for travel. Apply by October 31st and pay the lower "Early Bird" rate.
Since its inception, the Women In Comedy Festival has hosted thousands of artists from all over country, including Kristen Schaal, Rachel Dratch, Wendy Liebman, Carol Leifer, Jackie Kashian, Morgan Murphy, Jill Talley, Jen Kirkman, and Edie McClurg.
The Women in Comedy Festival strives to help performers be seen by industry. Last year saw scouts from VH1, Nickelodeon, and E!’s Chelsea Lately. In addition, WICF has bridged comedians to jobs writing for Ellen and hosting and performing Nick Mom’s Comedy Showcase. "Our mission is to create a forum for people to experience the comedic expression of women, see strong female performers and, most importantly, to entertain", says festival co-producer Maria Ciampa. “We want to close the gender gap in comedy,” continues co-producer Michelle Barbera.
WICF is co-produced by Michelle Barbera, Hillary Buckholtz, Maria Ciampa, Elyse Schuerman. Michelle McNulty is an associate producer.

I went to this last year its awesome! And boston has a TON of open mics, and booked venues (at least 4 every night of the week) so even if u dont get in or do an want extra practice you'll def get it here! Maria ciampa is awesome for executing this, and u meet a ton a great performers boston's stand up scene i have to say is on par with how a great a community improv in austin is...well except that u prob wont find epic blood baths...but hey its boston, u walk around boston all bloody-like people assume u walked into a gang brawl...maybe u were in a drug deal gone bad...maybe u were standing next to some pedestrians who consequently got hit by a car cuz they were jaywalking...
Nevertheless bostons comedy scene is fun and this is a ballah festival-plus hello! MARIA BAMFORD!!!!! One of my favs!
