THIS AMERICAN LIVE shares much with the well-known NPR show from which it takes its name: the format, the tone, and most importantly, the enthusiasm for personal stories. However, the Live theatrical setting gives it opportunities that couldn’t be “seen” on the radio.
Each week, a different topic will be explored as led by Not Ira Glass assisted by a diverse army of performer storytellers behind him. TAL looks not only to present the widest array of narratives, but to redefine narrative. Any given show will include a mix of script and improvisation, interviews and monologues, video and sketch and dance and burlesque and whatever else the Austin talent pool has to offer.
Whatever it takes to go to the deepest reaches of that week’s theme.
Future themes include:
NOVEMBER 16th: SECRET IDENTITY
NOVEMBER 23rd: SENSE(LESS)
NOVEMBER 30th: THE LINE IN THE SAND
Future guests will include Justin Davis, Jeremy Lamb, The Encyclopedia Show’s Mike Graupmann, sketch troupe Every Girl's Annual, and more.
