Interactive Theater

Post by sara farr »

Hey AIC,

Who in the community does "Interactive Theater" -- like on location performing and interacting with audiences? I know of these three orgs:

The Dinner Detective

Capital City Mystery Players (@ Cool River Cafe & on the Hill Country Flyer)
http://www.austinsteamtrain.org/rides.php#specrides

Heroic Interactive Theater (or is this "LARP" -- which is different)
http://www.heroicit.net/

I think "Scare for the Cure" counts, but it's only once a year. I'm MORE interested in established groups/troupes/companies.

Do you know others? Do YOU perform with these groups?

Tonight I'm going to "Scare for the Cure" -- an interactive haunted adventure out in Manor, TX.

I know it's been in the works since at least June (maybe even last year?). My friends and I bought RED tickets, meaning we will more than likely get bloody, muddy, and messed up.

Any of you IN this "show"? Are you not allowed to say??

LOL (hystarically)

The Darkness, which was at TNM was interactive theater.

I think there will be plans to do more, but when is another question. The impression I got was that it was positively received, so the potential for another is good.

Dream Cabinet just opened at Eponymous Garden (prod. by Salvage Vanguard) and the Exchange Artists also do site-specific work? I think a lot of theater companies like to play with site-specific, interactive and environmental work - but it can be very expensive to produce.

I'll be curating Frontera Fringe Festival's Mi Casa Es Su Teatro event in February bee-tee-dubs! It's a site-specific day fest of short works performed by artists in their houses, studios and other alternative venues. More info on that soon :)

I'm in Dinner Detective. It's pretty awesome.
