Hello. I'm Andrew.
I've been taking classes at the Institution since March and can usually be seen enjoying the activities on Sundays as well. I'm looking forward to level 4 later this month. Between the Institution being my "first" plus living and working south of Ben White, it's probably where I'll be found the most in the foreseeable future.
I've probably met a few of you at the Violet Crown when our class wandered to the last couple of meet & greets. I'm a bigger guy these days, but am feeling empowered and inspired by Thinning the Herd at the moment. I'm probably easy to spot for having hair that just about touches the tops of my legs.
I fell into improv when a friend suggested it to overcome stage fight. Before this year I was really only familiar with the Clive Anderson run of Whose Line Is It Anyway. Four of us agreed to do it, three of us did it, and I was the only person to stick with it. It felt right. It's very different to be in a place where opening my mouth doesn't make me "the weird guy" any more. This is also putting me through a lot of personal challenges that long past needed to be met outside of the theater.
Also, the community as a whole has been a really great group of people to this point. You have all absolutely been part of my pull to get more involved.
Now that I'm meeting a lot more of you and recently spent an evening as the audience guest during Epic, it seemed like time to at least come by and say hello. Hi.

Always. You can always continue to use improv for this purpose. Way to challenge yourself!

Andrew!
In a community of "weird guys" (and gals), there's not a lot of worry about standing out as the weird one.MrAndrewJ wrote: It's very different to be in a place where opening my mouth doesn't make me "the weird guy" any more. Thanks for the invite to the Violet Crown. Unfortunately I've already budgeted my time elsewhere and my money to Level 4 -- I'll have to sit this month out.
Chuy - I remember sitting with you too. To bring it all together, Asaf had to drop back into teacher mode to get me talking to anyone. Yeah. I have some work to do.
I have a feeling that I'll be suffering some form of cabin fever by this weekend and will be all to eager for this Sunday at the Institution. Thank you again for everything.
