Clinton attacking fox and neo-cons on Fox + grieving mom

Post by nadine »

2 things today..

1. Clinton on Fox news. Watch this:

2. A sad, personal narrative from a mother who lost her son in the war: "Give me five more minutes" (salon requires watching sponsor ad, but it's worth it for this read)

i watched the clinton/wallace interview on sunday (the first 20 minutes at least), and had this moment of happiness remembering how smart clinton is. and thoughtful. when he speaks, you can tell he isnt just reciting talking points or running a duck and cover operation.

chris wallace didn't know what hit him, or either he didn't remember how well clinton knows his stuff and what a great debater he is. i was worked up just watching wallace trying to corner him, and clinton totally maintained his composure...he even did this really sly thing of touching wallace's leg when he made a point. i loved that little non-verbal f*ck you.

this interview made me sad and hopeful at the same time.

i miss bill.

Clinton is still the only politician I've seen who 1) remembers the question asked of him in more than vague terms, and who 2) answers it point by point.

There's an election coming up soon. I'm pretty sure I'm a registered voter. I don't know Texas politics at all. I trust Erika et al with hving similar political views. Can someone point me in the right direction for voting so I don't mess up this state and just vote for whomever has a cooler sounding name in each category?

Clinton is still a bad-ass, even though you can tell that his surgery and other health problems have taken a toll on him. He seems much more frail than he did a decade ago. But still so intelligent and powerful. I'd vote for him again.

Well, as the best Republican president we've ever had, he would certainly be an improvement on the worst Republican president we've ever had, i.e., the current occupant.

I'll express my likely unpoular opinion:

I don't doubt that Clinton knew about bin Laden and I don't doubt that he may have even tried to get him on a few occasions. Who knows. Who really cares at this point. He didn't, the damage was done.

However, beloved charmer that he is, Clinton is no less a political animal than anyone else in his position. I personally think he is clearly and simply attempting to alter his legacy/perception and I do not for a second believe this BS that he was "obsessed" with getting bin Laden and I wish he'd drop such unnecessary hyperbole. Sure, he is loved by all and allowed more than others to get away with such things, but he muddies the political waters and uses semantic truths as much as the next guy.

In fact, speaking for me, I'd MUCH rather believe that our leader (like so MANY others) simply underestimated and mis-judged the threat and didn't do enough rather than was "obsessed" and still failed repeatedly and made so many sloppy mistakes like keeping the FBI and CIA from sharing information and allowing the terrorists to train on OUR soul for 5 to 6 years (while being obsessed with the problem) that led to the attacks succeeding. That's some shitty obsession.

Also, I'm sick of this cult of bin Laden. Yes, he is a big player, or was, but catching him would not necessarily have stopped anything. To me, the bigger gaffe was in policy and procedure matters, such as preventing intelligence agenies from sharing intel, than in managing or not to hit one guy with a cruise missile. OK, you tried to get Osama. What did you do to allow us to better track, infiltrate, and undermine the terrorist networks as a whole? And I'm not talking Gitmo extremes, either.

Once again, I think BOTH sides are playing smoke and mirrors with the real issues, all so we can watch the dog and pony show and choose up sides and attack and condemn one another instead of fixing the underlying problems and issues with this great nation of ours moving forward. Hate Clinton, Hate bush, just so long as you don't pay too close attention.

You have to go to Fox to see the video now, they've made u2b and others take it down. I have mixed feelings about this.

Anyone who gets that high up in politics MUST be a scumbag in many ways -- perhaps not all ways -- but in many.

I've had a thing for Bill Clinton for years. Ever notice how, other than JFK, he's been our only recent president with a shred of sexuality? You get the sense that if you removed Bush's trousers you would find a nothing but a Ken doll void? Not that you'd want to, though. Gag.

Bush uses fear, Clinton uses seduction. Both are pretty scumbaggy. But I'd rather be seduced than scared any day.

I'm also a big fan of the head of Parti Quebecois, Andre Boisclair, not only because he's openly gay, but because he admitted to using coke. Quick, someone give Kenny Mehlmann some blow!
