New to TX improv scene!

Post by CookieLB »

Hello!

I just moved to San Antonio and would love to learn more about the local improv scene and get involved! By local, I mean San Antonio & Austin :)

Even though I've done a bit of online browsing of what's out there, I'd appreciate recommendations for places to check out and specific shows to see- especially any long-form groups that perform in the area. I'm originally from Texas but I don't personally know anyone that would be able to give me a run down of all the different groups, venues, schools, etc. since I've lived out of state for the past 6 years.

Also, I've tried to look up the Oxymorons several times over the past couple months and cannot find any info other than a family-oriented show they do from a theatre's website. Do they still have a weekly Tuesday night show downtown?

Nice to meet all of you and can't wait to see some Texas improv and hopefully get to play with ya'll!!!

Thank you,
Doren

PS: I moved from Los Angeles where I did some short form & mostly long form improv... I enjoy watching, learning, & performing ALL kinds of improv!!

I just moved to San Antonio after living and training in Austin the last 2 years. Oxymorons and The Denials are the only troupes down here right now. The Denials do adult oriented short-form games every Saturday night at 10:30 at The Overtime Theater, it's $8.00. You can get in touch with them and start rehearsing with them as well (that's what I'm doing). I'm also working with some of the actors there to start doing some long form in the future.
