I just wanted to join in here to state what I hope is obvious...

Ben Masten is a great guy. Maybe he has a sour taste in his mouth from some experiences he's had, but he almost never shows that and it's unfortunate that the one time he did, it exploded like this (though what a great reminder that this IS the internet and we should keep in mind that anyone can be reading what we put inside it).

Samantha is awesome and I don't think ANYONE here meant to pick on her at all. I don't even know why (or if) anyone gave a shit about her saying something nice about the UCB Tourco.

UCB clearly recognizes Austin and other improv communities. I don't think I (and plenty others from Austin) could have been in four different shows at the last DCM if someone over there didn't recognize Austin as a place that's getting improv done.

Chris Gethard (using full name for Google-alert ammo), thanks for replying. I don't know how you do all the things you do and still have time to write more in one post that I've written in my entire history here.

I think that most people have most people's backs.

I wish you could come back up here soon to see Small Men. It's hysterical.

Agreed, Small Men was great. And The Two Man Movie is my favorite improv show in town.

Ten bucks says Bolden somehow knew that Chris Gethard had a Google alert on his name.

Getting upset about that tweet would be like one pizza place getting upset at another pizza place for having a box that says "You've tried the rest, now try the best" printed on it.

Also, it turns out that the second pizza place didn't even order the "Rest/Best" box, but they got a free upgrade because someone at the box factory genuinely enjoys that pizza and wants everyone to know that it's good.

Why don't we individually and collectively just do good improv, assess the performances that we were personally responsible for in an honest way, and...not give a fuck what anyone, press or otherwise, has to say about us?

I know how a show went the moment I step off the stage. I don't need a review, tweet, status update, or article to tell me. I don't care who says, thinks, or actually is the best at whatever they do as long as I'm actively working on my, my troupe's, and my theater's craft. No one else's level of success or failure has any bearing on my own success or failure.

My computer was locked in my brother's car & I had to deal with that over the weekend so I missed all of this!

I agree with Kareem. Let's all be bad asses and feel confident in our pluralistic sensibilities. We got different styles and we need to just own it.

Ten years down the road you KNOW Austin will have the most awesome crazy diverse improv scene on the planet. All we gotta do is cultivate it and UBH the shit out of it. I promise to do my part to get more of the inclusive fusion some folks be craving.

I'm just plain excited to be coming back east soon. Because everyone knows [Google Alert] in Los Angeles is a real piece of shit!
