"Go back to your bullshit fantasy world with all the happy-go-lucky conformists!"
I've always enjoyed my sense of humor but viewed it primarily as a tool of destruction - mocking enterprises I disdained - or as a way to wrack up social-points by being funny, clever, etc...
I think I'm drawn to keep doing improv because it's so positive, supportive, and cooperative and that does not come naturally to me at all. I still enjoy a good verbal sparring match but I think its even better - rarer - when you see a group of people bonding by forming a joke together - each of them filling in little pieces that make the whole group laugh.
Never be funny at the expense of what you're building with other people. That's my new motto. Happy Every-improvisor-in-austin-posts-on-the-forum-day.
Improv makes me feel like one of the goth kids on South Park
Everything else, basically.

A good motto to have. 95% of the time, the funny stuff you discover together is way more appealing than the throwaway line that breaks the scene's reality.heydemo wrote:Never be funny at the expense of what you're building with other people.
