The improv community is the best thing I could have ever gotten into here.
I moved here a year ago to pursue comedy and finally start doing what I want to with my life... Of course when I got here, I didn't know what I should do first. I decided to take improv first to get comfortable on stage and then start working on stand up. I signed up for classes and got Andy Crouch as a teacher with Ruby Willman as a TA. The first day changed my life and began to set in motion what I felt I should've been doing all along. It was so reaffirming to have a room of complete strangers laughing at things I said or did. My whole class was, and still is super talented and the core 10 of us finished 1-6. I even ended up performing after my second class in the lottery. Two weeks in and I was on stage realizing a dream is not as hard to chase as you think it would be, if you follow your instincts. It taught me to be aware, not only of what's around me, but also being aware of myself. Life was crazy in my past and filled with bad environments and bad people, and after I made a decision, my life completely turned around for the better, no for the best. I have so many great friends and wonderful people all around me now, that I realized reaching your dream is not what you should look forward too, it's all the great things you find everyday after making that decision. I still have a long way to go, and who knows, I may never reach my ideal end result, but this is the happiest and free i've ever felt in my life. From my first party at the moon base and getting to know the wonderful Kaci Beeler and Roy Janik, my expansion into character workshops with Asaf, to being in my first show with Jason Vines as my director and now life long friend as of now and all the great friends I made in that cast, to one of my favorite moments of my life playing Mitchell Deane.... This year has been filled with more wonderful experiences then ive had in the 26 years previous to it. Thank you all soooo much for showing be the definition of a real community and what it means to be a great, caring family.
I love you all
