The Theft Forum - Troupe Interviews

Post by MitchellD »

The Theft Forum is a comedy netcast featuring Austin performers run by Scott Hearn and Mitchell Deane (Scott Runs the 1 on 1 interviews, while I run the Troupe interviews, with the help of Scott. We also run other formats such as The Bat.)

We are now receiving submissions by different troupes to be featured on our show. During this show, we will interview the director to bring to light how they came up with their idea and what they did to build the troupe. Then, we'll segway into interviewing a few members of the troupe along with the director to see what their process was, their experience, why they wanted to join, and the different techniques/games they used to bring out their troupe's vision. Then, we will have you do a short bat style improv based around your show to demonstrate your work to our listeners.

We promote your show, and you by effect promote our show. What wonderful synergy! It's perfect for promoting upcoming troupes, new main stage shows, and allowing us to see the process of the shows we already know.

Please list:
Your name.
Your troupe.
Your director/couch if you have one. State if you don't.
Your email for contacting.
What your troupe/show is about.

We will then be able to choose from this list, and have back ups incase you can't make it for that week.

Keep this going! I enjoyed my interview with Scott! More of our scene, please!

I highly recommend this, guys. Scott and Mitchell do their research and are genuinely interested in the process and people. We did an interview for Pocketful of Posies and it was a blast. We got to talk about how the format was approached and executed and it will really help drive audiences to the next show.

It's also cool to share that experience officially with everyone because I know people have expressed interest in the show's development and I'd love to hear about the rehearsal/execution processes for other shows that are going on as well.

Great marketing, great hosts, great fun. Jump on this, people. I approve.

Thanks for the kind words Ryan! We want to produce a high quality, listenable show.

Water Park!

Post by strackan »

Water Park would love to be included in this. We're a new musical improv troupe out of The New Movement. What's more, I just ran a 3 hour Bat workshop, and would love to talk Bat stuff with y'all.

Your requested information:

Name: Justin Strackany
Troupe: Water Park
Director: Justin Strackany (I'm musical director)
Coach: Michael Foulk
Email: wp at waterparkmusic dot com
Troupe / Show: Water Park creates a ~30 minute improved rock musical from a single suggestion (or sometimes nothing at all). We're unique in that we accompany ourselves and also mix a cappella along with traditional musical forms.

Looking forward to being a part of this!

This is awesome. We would love to participate!

Furiously Missing (Gloria Bankler, Amy O'Connor, Zack Phillips, Chris Sutphen, Cassidy Santaguida)

Currently between coaches. Jeremy Sweetlamb just finished an 8ish month stint with us. I haven't asked, but he might be up for this.

I have a gmail account. cassidysantaguida then all the other stuff.

Life is propelled by a sense of lack, and Furiously Missing is dedicated to embodying this principle on stage. Our narratives explore the stories we create when we obey our inner longings, whether wistfully or desperately. For inspiration we ask the audience to tell us about things they miss. The show typically starts with a reality-show style interview of two characters and the story unfolds from there.
