Skipping Levels at The Institution Theater

Post by Asaf »

A big part of our policy at The Institution Theater is recognizing that people who have accrued experience in other improv programs might not want to start out at, or might not even fit in, a Level 1 class.

That is why on a case-by-case basis we allow people to start out in our 201 or 301 classes (that said, we also have amazing 101 teachers).

Info on our FREE IMPROV WORKSHOP (Wednesday, August 1st, 7-9pm) here: http://www.theinstitutiontheater.com/workshops/31

Registration for all our classes: http://www.theinstitutiontheater.com/improv_classes

Improv 101: Self-Expression & Empowerment — $99.00
The first step in learning to improvise is self-expression; you’re a creative person with lots of ideas that need to come out. Through acting exercises and improv games played in a safe and fun environment, you’ll learn to spontaneously create great improvised scenes and characters with strong points of view. Whether your goal is to use improv as a tool for acting or a way to enhance your life, you will walk away with a sense of freedom and empowerment that only this art form can bring.

Saturdays starting Aug 4 for 8 weeks
with Sarah Marie Curry from 12:00pm – 2:30pm

Mondays starting Aug 6 for 8 weeks
with Ted Meredith from 7:00pm – 9:30pm Register

Improv 201: Scene Dynamics and Forms — $160.00
$10 OFF if you register by August 1st with coupon code EarlyBird

All improv scenes are about the dynamics between its characters. You’ll learn how the simplest moves can develop into the richest of stories with fun and complex relationships. This class will explore emotional range, stage picture and build upon the character development of Improv 101 to deliver you into the most awesome scenes you can imagine.

Saturdays starting Aug 4 for 8 weeks
with Justin Davis from 3:00pm – 5:30pm

Wednesdays starting Aug 8 for 8 weeks
with Sarah Marie Curry from 7:00pm – 9:30pm

Improv 301: Group Think and Play — $160.00
$10 OFF if you register by August 1st with coupon code EarlyBird

Step into advanced scene work and the beginnings of longform. The class will break every convention and create some new ones along the way. Learn how easy group scenes can be, to edit in a way that is less polite and more helpful, and to assess the energy in the room more quickly and how to participate in it – more importantly how to play in it. Milk the fun in each and every moment on stage and off.

Wednesdays starting Aug 8 for 8 weeks
with Asaf Ronen from 7:00pm – 9:30pm

I still have some room for more students in my Saturday 201 class if you want to sign up. If you've heard good things, want to try The Institution Theater out, and have taken classes elsewhere, then you can skip right past 101 to take my class. Maybe even the 301 class, if Asaf is cool with that and you want to discuss doing that. Use the links in Asaf's post above or work out some sort of payment plan by emailing myself (Mr.JustinDavis at Gmail.com), Asaf (YesandAsaf at Gmail.com), or Tom Booker (Tom.Booker at Yahoo.com).

I highly recommend Justin Davis' class. It was a great experience.
