I believe it's a combination. Coming from the religion of improv, I think shit happens for a reason or not and it's up to you to justify what happened and why.

I believe it's a combination.

I'm also a subscriber to this philosophy. I think sometimes Fate has potential plans for you, but you can screw them up or ensure their success by your own choices and actions.

I'm also a firm believer that people are little more than the sum total of the choices they make in life. Luck is rarely random, I feel, but rather the fortuitous outcome of a series of correct or beneficial choices. So I guess you can say that you "make" your own by showing wisdom in your choices.

In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

You work your life away and what do they give?
You're only killing yourself to live

I don't believe in fate, but I don't believe in control. The only thing you can control is your reactions. Unlikely thinngs happen all the time, and its mathematically expected that something unlikely will happen, just not any particular thing. Feeling lucky is just a selective awareness of what happens to you, and a choice in how you focus your thoughts.

I think that we can only seize the various opportunities that come our way. In that, we can be lucky (if we see and seize them) or unlucky ( if we don't see or ignore them).
And of course, we got born into a certain set of circumstances such as wealth or poverty, support or abuse. That's just shit happening.
Its not what happens...its what you do next. Or something like that.
