The Losers: Extreme Weight Loss Improv Challenge

Post by Tyler B. »

Are you fat? Rotund? Oversized? And funny?

We are looking for a group of improvisers who are honestly ready to make a change. The Losers: Extreme Weight Loss Improv Challenge is a new, bi-weekly improv show that focuses on weight loss and the journey that people go through to try to lose weight. The show will feature monologues, sketches, improvisational scenes, and videotaped segments. We are putting together 8 extraordinary, plus-sized comedians unafraid to getting in shape in front of the public. You must be willing to commit to a three month run (that means three months of dieting and exercising) beginning in September. Shows will be Sunday nights at 6.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, you are welcome to attend an informational meet and greet and brainstorming session Sunday, July 1 at 2pm at Studio 1308 (1308 East 7th Street).

This is an exciting opportunity to combine weight loss and improv in a happy, non-judgmental place. Please keep in mind that you must have a healthy sense of humor about the realities of being overweight. You must also work well with a team and be willing to really change you habits. If you can't laugh at yourself, this is probably not the right show for you.

The show will be co-produced at the Institution Theater by Tom Booker and the cast currently includes Amy Averett, Britain Spellings, and a few other great local comedians. Come join us!

Please call or email me if you have interest or questions.

I used to be fat. Is that good enough?

So, if the cast is for 8, and you already have people, how many slots are really open for the show?

If I'm going to be out of town from the last Sunday in September through the first Sunday in October, does that mean I can't be in the show? I figure that's what it means, but just to make sure...

Jeff, we are trying to make the teams big enough that an occasional missed show isn't going to be catastrophic for any individual or team.

So, no, it shouldn't be a problem.

Well, I'm not really funny, but I do need to make a serious change. Does that count?

Do you know what days of the week you are talking about for the shows and rehearsals? This sounds really fun.

Tyler, I gotta say you're completely freaking awesome to play with.

If I hadn't already lost 100 lbs, I'd be jumping at the opportunity to play with you on a regular basis while losing 100 lbs.

Best of graces to you and everyone else involved.
