Hey gang--
You know how Michael Brockman is this amazingly versatile and talented musician? Imagine anything you've ever seen him do turned up x 100 for the improvised Rock Opera. He has two keyboards, an electric guitar, and a drum machine and he has basically turned the Hideout into his own private epic cave of rock awesomeness. I've worked with Brockman a lot and he has completely outdone himself with this show.
Just wanted to take a few minutes to brag on this man who often goes unsung and to encourage you to get your ass out to the Hideout to see him in all his glory. (Some other people are on stage too, but whatever...)
Saturdays at 8 pm at the Hideout through the end of June.

Actually Justin, I'm pretty sure that's a shot from a Blind Faith soundcheck circa 1969.
It is not, however, John Ratliff.

I concur. No offense to the rest of the cast (the show was great) but I couldn't stop watching Brockman last night. It was just....sensational. I've played guitar for 15 years, so I understand the difficulty of the techniques he was using (hammer-ons, pinch harmonics). Meanwhile, playing piano, executing drum tracks, ambient synth sounds, with almost no blips or wrong notes. MEANWHILE, ALL OF IT IMPROVISED. It was unbelievable.
I agree with Amy, even if you've seen Michael Brockman, you have not seen him like this.
If you aren't a fan of Rock Operas or improvised musicals, you should go just to get your mind blown.

I agree. Brockman is a seriously talented and skilled musician and musical improviser. What he does blows my mind.
And in Rock Opera, he's in his element and totally pulling out all the stops.

You think I'm playing bass with a hand?!Lindsey with an E wrote:Oh, please. We could all do the same thing if we had four arms like he does. Why do you think he's always wearing that baggy jacket??
