I think more people have trouble with "Badr".

Spelling it's easy. Just don't ask me to say it.

He was introduced last night as "Bad-R."

Lampe, you had no idea how it's pronounced, don't lie. I could tell.

it would be more like "Luke, I am your Badr" than "spare us your sorcerer's ways, Lord Badr."

I totally heard the tune. I wonder if I got it right. :-)

Sweet!  I actually didn't have a tune; I was just thinking about the doggerel verse about the Scarlet Pimpernel in "Nob and Nobility".  But I did try to get the scansion vaguely consistent.

In polite company where fundamentalist or New Age beliefs are expressed with confidence, you have three choices: (1) Silent agreement, (2) eagerness to contribute your own similar finding, or (3) mentally composing a new answering message for your cell phone.

I'll try to sing it for you next time I see you. Hmm.

I need to find a way to set this to a harpsichord or similar instrument.

I heard that one time, when a Maestro audience gave a powerful, dramatic scene a "1", the Hideout Marquis appeared out of *nowhere*, threw down a single, rosewater-scented glove, and defeated every man jack of them in single combat! #legendsofthemarquis

Live Nude Improv started out as a clothed show. but during a rehearsal, the Marquis swung down from the chandelier (oh, you've never heard tell of the tragic story of the Hideout chandelier? another day, fair traveler...), danced a minuet around the room with his epee drawn and when he paused to take his bow, the scraps of fabric that had been our clothing fell away with not a scratch on our skin. we burst into spontaneous applause and made garlands out of flowers, while the Marquis vanished through the trap door (oh, you don't know about the Hideout trap door, that leads to the subterranean kingdom where Wesley Bain and Christina De Roos live and rule, only to emerge once a year to exchange gifts of smoked meat and incense? well, the uninitiated so rarely do...).

I think we all remember the first year of the annual Comedy and Miniature Golf Enthusiasts' Festival, when the city comptroller showed up at the Hideout on the first headliners' night, flanked by a couple of cops to shut the whole thing down -- something to do with improperly filed municipal forms (Miggy probably recalls the details).

Naturally, the audience was pretty pissed, but then there was this great, booming voice from the back of the room:  "SILENCE!"  The crowd hushed and who should emerge from the darkness but the Hideout Marquis!

Nobody quite recalls the speech that followed, but it was something about the nobility of art and the role of government to work for and with its people.  I think there were some lengthy quotes from de Tocqueville.  Everyone there swears that it was profoundly moving, though, and *everyone* remembers the closing bit:  "This, sir, is not justice.  This is not decency.  This... is out of bounds!"

... and that's what the festival's been called ever since.
