Longterm goals as an improviser?

My current goals are:
-Tour Europe, performing improv, including compelling formats that have no spoken dialogue or few interactions in English because...
-I also want to perform in Korea or Japan (spread Austin-style to all corners of the Globe!)
-Develop more inspired formats and styles with PGraph and The Hideout
-Write full length plays using improv, and keep the plays fresh with improvised portions of dialogue
-I also want to tour portions of the US and Canada by van with PGraph (again, and more, and longer) and make money or break even teaching and performing
-More big improv cross-pollination events and gatherings across multiple disciplines and artforms (Austin first, then....?)
-Hone them teachin' skills, find room in my schedule to teach more regularly
-Perform more at the different theaters, in varied types of shows with all kinds of improvisers
-I want to meet or know about every major improv school/group/center in the world, I want to talk to the people involved
-I want to have more space to work in, and I want to create more elaborate and malleable set designs with a higher budget and bigger stage
-I want to get Austin improv on the radar as a MUST-SEE activity on any visit to Austin
-I want to create improv shows with that involve:
1) great personal intimacy and vulnerability that is compelling and engrossing
2) unbelievably elaborate and beautiful sets and costumes
3) more women than men in the cast, and not be improvised Jane Austen
(all of these things would probably not be all at once...but maybe).

And a million other things...because I can never stop thinking about this stuff.

Kaci, that’s quite a bucket list of improv. You’ll be busy for a long time completing all those goals, and they’ll bring you lots of fun.

My goals:

- Create a form for men having a middle aged crisis, like I’ve gone through the last few years. Men in Middle Aged Crisis.
(cast with young hot girls in it to tease the older guys, and pissed off middle aged wives.)

- Write a kick ass corporate comedy show.
- Use improv to create innovative ideas to change the world.
- Raise $$ for charities with improv shows.
- Make improv be my one and only therapy. It’s cheaper and more fun.
- Do a show where I get to improvise with Amy Poehler.

more to follow as I can’t remember the others...

Terrill - I mean this in the most playful way possible... but your fantasy is a total trope. A bunch of non-threatening white dudes & the one hot chick. I mean that's the stereotype. Just go outside and throw a rock in any direction.

Well when you reach middle age it will take on a different meaning then it does when you are young. Just saying from my experience. Everyone can work to fulfill their dreams and fantasies in whatever way possible. By the way that was a goal not a fantasy. My fantasies aren’t meant to be put on stage. [/quote]

Hahaha, mine too. My fantasies are safe & locked away in a box.

What I got thinking about was Married With Children and how that show stands up to time. At least the pilot and the first couple seasons.

Oh yes, yes it will.

My own goal in improv (and life) is simply stated. Anything that raises the bar has my interest. I bore easily and need to be challenged. If I get that "spinning my wheels" feeling. It's time for me to move on.

I want to play forever and keep meeting new wonderful people and keep learning new ideas and making discoveries, and play some more French people and hobos and do some more pratfalls, and form some more improv teams that get to be happy together, and bring some of the power of improv to people in hard circumstances who could really use it. If I could do all that without running out of money that would be pretty neat.

Being a relative newbie to improv, my goals are a bit humble. Mostly I want to learn as much as possible, then learn what works to make me the most playful, funny improviser I can be. I'd also love to get all of my friends into st least one improv class. And I want to just perform, perform, perform.

I guess this would qualify as a longer-term goal:to become the kind of improviser that other imps are really Jazzed about playing with. I think (or hope) that I've passed the point where I'm one of those imps that people kind of dread being onstage with. That's a good start. But I want to be one of those people that people get really excited to be in scenes with.

I have a little mental list of people that make me go "Wheeeeee" to play with. I'm lucky enough to be in troupes with some of them. Some I've never actually done a scene with (one day, Roy Janik. One day). I'm sure most imps have similar lists, consciously or unconsciously. My goal is to be on them.

I want to "sit-in" with other troupes more often...

I want to balance my time with my family with time spent doing shows...

I want to be in a duo...
